There’s a lot of talk these days about people’s reluctance to engage in the world. Streaming is winning out over the silver screen, and apps are replacing real world dating. Housecat sees Birdman Cult tackle the latter phenomenon in their own unique and fun-filled style.

Since the band’s formation in 2020, Birdman Cult have been distilling their distinct blend of hook-heavy, post-punk and garage-rock sound - one the band describes as “anthemic-doomy rock and roll” – into a brew as fine as bourbon, as sharp as vodka, and as intoxicating as the best absinthe.

Housecat is the band at their raw and dark best. Think Hawkwind, The Hives, and Viagra Boys mixing it up at your local bar, a sonic riot but with an important message, delivered by the band’s vocalists in a down and dirty style.

It’s as earthy and fuzzy as previous single Maiden, Mother, Crone, while being the perfect showcase for the band’s ability to address complex themes in a simple and direct style. But if you want it to be, the song can just be about cats having some fun, right?

Says vocalist Joe; “We’re saying stop fearing the outside world, come out of yourself and get a little dirty its fine! The song speaks to all the domesticated alley cats out there! It’s a cautionary tale to the try-hard and designer-dirty posers and an appeal to the pampered felines that should maybe come out from their comfortable scratch pads and roll around in the streets with some friendly tomcats.”
