The fifth part of the international compilation from Label Cantroll's “Downtown” series. A month-long selection round was held, musicians sent their submissions, and in the end 16 tracks from 18 authors from the USA, France, Russia, Finland, Serbia, Belarus and Ireland were chosen. These are benevolent electronic music in the genres of downbeat, hip-hop, soul and chill-hop.

While the bright sun on the flat roof makes it warmer in the studio where the workshop takes place, sweat does not break out just because of the heat. Prying eyes of the workshop leader, one of my musical heroes, force me to give an answer other than “Don't know, just throw it online.” The fact that four pairs of eyes from the other students are still aimed at me does not help either. So bluff mode turns on. “This will be the first track of a four track EP to be released on March 1. That's my birthday, I think it's a nice date.” pops out. Relieved I breathe. So, given a satisfying answer, my moment is over, up to the next student. “Okay, next week you contacted a mastering engineer and set a date on which you deliver your tracks to him. And I want to see evidence. No, I personally call that guy to check if you really did it.”, I suddenly hear the workshop leader say. Now I have to. Crap…
Well, after years of only working with band music, collaborative projects and remixes, it may also be time for a real solo release. So about nine months later there is “ The Web Weave ... ” A four track EP with instrumental, spacey beats.

SignBit's second EP, Lost HDD EP, was produced and composed from 2019 - 2022. Following a catastrophic computer failure, the songs were thought lost for all time, until a folder of early masters was found nested deep within an external hard drive. Bouncing between moody future garage & trip-hop vibes, Lost HDD EP showcases SignBit's inventive production skills, creative sampling and sound design capabilities, and their typical exploration of diatonic modes.

The Micronauts

This record is a vinyl and digital reissue of the first track by The Micronauts, “Get Funky Get Down”, along with Daft Punk’s remix of it, the first ever made by the famous duo. Both were originally released in 1995 on the London label Phono, which also discovered Matthew Herbert, Morgan Geist and Freaks (aka Luke Solomon & Justin Harris).

The original version has made a remarkable comeback on record diggers’ playlists for the past years. The B-side of the original EP, “Back To The Bioship”, is also included, as well as a previously unreleased version of the A-side, the ‘Nature 1994 Cassette Version’, found as its name suggests on a cassette tape recorded in 1994.
