This Bliss is Jess Baggia and Nick Zampiello, a wife and husband indie pop duo whose blend of infectious electropop and singer/songwriter stylings come together in the form of melody-driven songs laden with vintage-sounding analogue synths.
Coming together as a band in 2018, they self-released a series of number of well-received singles and albums prior to signing with AnalogueTrash in December 2023. Jess and Nick also own an art gallery and recording studio in Somerville, Massachusetts - the New Alliance Gallery is an anchor for a thriving community of visual and musical artists; very much representing the enduring presence of local art despite ongoing city development and displacement.
One Day exudes the duo’s innate warmth and positivity while remaining grounded in the real world. This quality is exemplified by the cinematic tones of the song’s intro and percussion, though it stays true to This Bliss’ core of electropop and dreampop influences.
The track draws inspiration from Jess and Nick’s own process as creatives in their own right, and their role in helping others express their own artistic selves: “One Day is both a love letter to art and an acknowledgment of how painful it can be to be an artist,” says Jess. “Ultimately, it's about finding your voice.”
She continues, “One Day was a case of joyful songwriting: sometimes the song pours out without much thinking and it's a pleasure. We continue to streamline our production process, and the ease of that workflow is reflected in the final product.”
One Day is accompanied by a stellar downtempo remix by labelmate Debris Discs, aka High Peak (UK) indie-pop and electronica artist James Eary. Stripping down its dreampop themes and accentuating the snare and woozy electronica of the original, James’ refreshed arrangement perfectly underpins and accentuates Jess’ vocal performance.
