Dr.Nojoke's EP "M" features four previously unreleased tracks from over 10 years ago, all of which share the initial letter M.
The 29-minute ride takes listeners through a diverse sonic landscape of associations, while maintaining the unmistakable essence of Dr.Nojoke's signature style.

Of particular note is 'Moimon', a blend of shamanic capoeira chants, drones, electro-techno beats and haunting bass that evokes the intensity of a hidden ritual.
"Mustart" boasts a dark rhythmic drive with immersive textures and, like "Moimon", has been tried and tested in countless performances by Dr.Nojoke in clubs around the world.
Miliplex" and "Mumucu" reflect the deeper minimal-micro CLIKNO style synonymous with the Doctor.

Post Techno Crisis

Have we really reached a state of « post techno crisis »?
That questioning is legit and would have been legit even ten years earlier. It’s not with words that Frank tends to respond to that question. Rather with his music and through an enhanced discography that has been unfolding Since 2005.

In fact, the same way as very few minimal techno producers did like Villalobos, Murcof, Alva Noto, Burnt Friedman and Jan Jelinek (that he considers as major influences), we believe that Dr.Nojoke invented a whole sub-genre, a whole environment where he, accompanied by his recordings and diverse techniques, is pulling the strings and calling the shots. That’s probably at this point that this kind of music becomes the most interesting, distinct and personal; When the artist is ruling his little world and applying a whole bunch of processes, recipes and rules that he has built and keeps on building and improving every day. This way, he gets to have, at the same time, full control of his machinery and enough space for what is and has to be fortuitous. Those who had the chance to see and hear him playing live would definitely understand what we’re talking about.

Nojoke is a kind of studio operative worker and manic sound collector. Although « Conceptual » wouldn’t be a fine word to describe his music neither, as the concept, if there is one, is wrapped up and shrouded enough to not be heard as the starting point of his works. That’s maybe what we liked at first listen of Frank’s music and what made us want to contact him. This brilliant combination and assimiliation of well digested influences (from minimal and micro to UK breakbeat and dub techno) was unusual, intriguing and very impressive. 

And what is coming next is this album « Post Techno Crisis ». It brings another 6 tracks on the table for no less than 50 minutes of micro dub ballads, which hopefully contain a bit of this artists singularity and subtlety.

The German producer and live act Dr.Nojoke impresses on the 'Mental Health Hotline', a tongue-in-cheek EP that - in keeping with the producer's alias - makes some lighthearted references to some serious issues.  Opening up the release is the original, a gnarly, twisted, temperamental track that sounds as if it were lifted from a Donato Dozzy and Tin Man collaboration. Moody and minimal, it keeps the listener's attention firmly locked courtesy of a range of swelling beats and unusual samples. A stifling, almost uncomfortable listen, this one will make most sense when the night is enjoying its most trippy moments. '
Nemonuk' is Dr.Nojoke's second original on offer. Again, the ethos here is firmly tied toward a minimal aesthetic and again, the results firmly lean towards a somewhat out-there place. In 2021 CLIKNO celebrates its 5th anniversary and presents with its 10th release a very special acoustic techno EP from Dr.Nojoke entitled “Muaco.

This EP is a child of the Corona crisis. Muaco stands for Music against Corona and deals with the clubless time we are all experiencing.

When Dr.Nojoke picked up his Höfner acoustic guitar during the lockdown in spring he was looking for new inspirations. The recordings led to three brilliant poly-rhythmical tracks for a special trip far off the beaten path.
Dr.Nojoke suggests his EP as much as a way for home-clubbing as well as a listening experience.
We don´t even know, if it is techno or what, but as mostly all parts were created with acoustic guitar you may file it under acoustic techno or guitar techno.
We think it is just great groovy music - pulsating, hypnotic, danceable, kraut-ish, freaky - that should be played everywhere.

Dr.Nojoke shows on AI his deeper, darker, bassier and trippier side.
A. Petar Plet Plete is based on a Bulgarian tongue twister. The chant hypnotizes with its layers and endless repetitions over a straight Maurizio-esque groove with melodic percussion in odd time signature. Nivin grooves elegantly with typical Dr.Nojoke clicks and sophisticated loops of a mysterious female voice, whose melody reminds slightly to Kraftwerk’s Man-machine era.
I. EOW and Nuknot are both intimate orgies of thick textures of reverberations and reflections as if space is folding in itself and time is on hold. EOW seduces with a heavy kick-drum groove and a triplet bassline underneath crawling through unconscious memories. Woe! Nuknot is carried by eternal atmospheres, a low end bassline and a repetitious glassy clang, that can drive a crowd into madness - inspired by Moritz von Oswald and Deadbeat.
