EllektraJazz immerses listeners in a sonic trance on their new album, Progressive Alogia. Released on the Label Cantroll, this is exactly what Adrian Younge would have created if he had reimagined the Mahavishnu Orchestra's legacy, abandoning funk and jazz-rock for a blend of trip-hop and dark jazz.

Contemplative nostalgia here takes shape through the warm, distorted breath of a Hammond B3 organ and the shimmering vibrato of a Fender Rhodes electric piano. However, the retro soul of the compositions is merely the foundation: on top of it, the author weaves the pulsating energy and sexuality of rock.

The album's title speaks for itself: "alogia" (the loss of the ability to speak) becomes an artistic device here. It's a transition from narrative to sound. Words are powerless and fall away as unnecessary, giving way to musical expression. This space strikes a perfect balance between structure and freedom, between composition and improvisation: the compositions sound spontaneous and lively, yet are held together by a strong framework of polyphony and progressive rock. Progressive Alogia is music that begins where conversations end.

About the project:

EllektraJazz is a retro jazz-rock project by Yuri Vinogradov's one-man band. It attempts to convey the vibes and aesthetics of 1970s instrumental music through modern production, spicing up the nostalgic past with modern elements of dark jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music. As a philosopher, Yuri frames the music of this project within the conceptual framework of contemporary philosophical ideas. The artist makes extensive use of a Fender Rhodes electric piano, a Hammond B-3 organ, a Fender Jazz Bass, vinyl noises, and other instruments, creating an atmosphere of old jazz-rock music in the spirit of Miles Davis's Bitches Brew, where Tricky supposedly came to the session. The project has been in existence since 2016.
