The 69th release on Sound Avenue finds label boss Madloch back in the spotlight with a brand new single. The Belgian artist is fresh off a series of collaborative projects with Ubbah, Hot TuneiK and Eze Ramirez as well as a solo remix for Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings. Now back on his home imprint Madloch delivers his first and much anticipated solo production of the year entitled 'Fiction'.
Following a string of successful gigs in North America to begin the year Madloch took that inspiration back to the studio with him. The end result of many long nights was 'Fiction' presented here in two versions, the 'Analog' and 'Digital'. Beginning with the former, the Belgian artist explores mystical motifs and wispy atmospheres over dubby beats and intricate electronics. It's meditative qualities are hard to resist and a dreamlike state awaits as the journey unfolds. Glacial lines and a delicate yet funky groove lead track to a deeply enchanting break, pulling at your emotional core as it strips down to waves of fuzzed out electronics. A poignant moment and one which lights a late fire as the beats return and emotive qualities rise for a mesmerising conclusion.
The 'Digital' version meanwhile brings a more peak time sensibility with tougher beats, driving grooves and a strong rhythmic core. The main motifs carry nicely into the break where pensive moments add dramatic tension. A solemn synth signals a path back to the groove, reigniting the hypnotic qualities for a finale with waves of white noise and buzzing electronics taking you home. Two stunningly diverse creations from Madloch, both of which have been a highlight in his sets of late and now sit as perhaps his all time best work. Don't miss them.
