Hailing from Parts Unknown, Michigan, Granny Rocker is a cane-wielding, no-nonsense grandma who has mastered the fine arts of quilt-making and air guitar virtuosity. Fusing comedy with raw performance art, she delivers a high-octane live experience that defies both musical tradition and orthopedic limitations.
The legend began in 1992, when she was "discovered" by the band Hideous Piglet Wild-a-Beast during their Levels of Reality tour. After tailing the band in Detroit under the impression she was their roadie, she boldly walked on stage as an opening act and received a standing ovation. Confused and unable to find her way home after the show, she stowed away in the band’s tour bus bathroom. Discovered at the next stop, the band instantly made her their permanent opener, and she became a massive fan favorite.
A Granny Rocker show is a true spectacle. She waddles on stage, scowls at the crowd, and breaks into blistering air guitar while singing acapella or mimicking absurd guitar solos with her voice. Her legendary 1992 antics were captured on the Various Artists: Live! VHS via Dead Dog Records.
