Description: One Man Trio Live is a rare and chaotic snapshot of early ’90s underground performance art, capturing One Man Trio live in 1992 at Holland Elk Lodge #1315 in Holland, Michigan. Originally issued on the VHS compilation Dead Dog Records Various Artists: Live! by Dead Dog Records, the recording documents a brief but unforgettable set opening for mock-rock legends Hideous Piglet Wild-a-Beast on their Levels of Reality tour. The release consists of a single track, “One Man Interlude (Live ’92)” (1:50), a fragment that feels less like a conventional song and more like a surreal dispatch from a fringe performance scene that thrived on absurdity and spectacle.
Often described as one of the most bizarre figures in mock-rock scene, One Man Trio turns minimal instrumentation into full theatrical display. Dressed in basketball shorts, jersey, high-tops, and a baseball cap, he strides onstage to trigger a demo beat from an ’80s keyboard before launching into a strangely charismatic routine—flipping his hat with half-juggler flair, spinning it backward, and prancing across the stage in a hybrid of ballroom dance and tongue-in-cheek strip show. The performance blurs parody and sincerity, musicianship and physical comedy, leaving behind a lo-fi live document that feels as much like performance art as it does music.
