Peng Chant

Peng Chant was recorded both live with an audience and in a studio in Uppsala in July 2024. Yang Yu-Chiao and Girilal Baars met in early 2024 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan when he was there on tour with Tall Tales. As two voice artist they immediately recognised a mutual resonance and a shared interest in both traditional ballads and the freedom of contemporary music. In the summer of 2024 Yu-Chiao came to Uppsala for an extended visit and this album came into being. It is centered around some traditional stories and also includes two compositions and two improvised pieces.
